Product Description

Cooks shopping for midweight stainless-steel cookware at a mid-range price may well have found their match with this cookware set from Cuisinart. Equipped to handle most common cooking tasks, the 14-piece set includes a 1-1/2- and 3-quart covered saucepan, an 8- and 10-inch covered skillet, a 4-quart covered saute with helper, and a 9-quart covered stockpot, as well as a 7-3/4-inch covered steamer insert and 9-1/2-inch covered pasta steamer insert.

As part of Cuisinart's Chef's Classic line of cookware, all pieces are made of 18/10 stainless steel that has been polished to a brilliant mirror finish and that won't react to acidic foods. An inner core of aluminum ensures that foods heat quickly and evenly without hot spots that can burn foods. The riveted stainless-steel handles on the cookware stay cool on the stovetop and the matching 18/10 mirror-polished stainless-steel lids seal in moisture and nutrients for healthier, more flavorful results. In addition, the cookware pieces provide tapered rims for drip-free pouring and all pieces are dishwasher-safe. All cookware in Cuisinart's Chef's Classic line is oven-safe up to 450 degrees F and covered by a limited lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Excellent Cookware Set!

I am no chef but I do love to cook, and I purchased this set for myself after moving cross-country and giving away an old set of Farberware stainless. I have been using these for the last month and a half and I couldn't be more pleased. I absolutely love them!

They heat evenly and the handles do, indeed, stay cool. The pots clean up beautifully. There has been some minor discoloration on the frying pans but that's to be expected, I think, given their purpose. But the saucepans and stockpot come out of the dishwasher looking as pristine as when I took them out of the box! They are SO pretty... Lastly, these pots and pans are not too heavy, which was sa concern for me. I'd tried out other pots and pans (like the Emerilware) at department stores and found them extremely heavy to lift; the Cuisinart Chef's Classic are the perfect weight for me.

You do have to be careful about keeping the heat lower, though, or things do burn. The other thing I've found is that, while the handles on the pots and pans stay cool, the handles on the lids do not...just be careful when lifting the lids!

Although I think it'd be nice if the 14-piece set included a 2-quart saucepan too, but otherwise it comes with everything you need to cook a big or small meal. There are smaller sets, though, for those who aren't ready to take the plunge.

I heartily recommend this set.
Much better than expected

For a logn time I looked at different cookware at the local stores and was less then impressed. I read numerous glowing reviews on Amazon with a grain of salt. I finally tkok the plunge and ordered. Wow, this set is high quality. My wife balked at the idea of stainless steel but this set is wonderful. No rust and food doesn't stick much at all. We have an electric cooktop and that may make the difference. The other thing is that with our previous aluminum/Teflon set the cooktop would have to be turned up to 7 to have the water boil. With this set it boils at 3.
Read Fine Print

Love the cookware, the only problem i had was not reading the fine print which caused me to ruin the inside bottom (discoloration)of my stock pot, thank goodness it is the only pot i store in my cabinet,my others are displayed on my pot rack.I was cooking fresh collards from a friend and i always add a dash of baking soda to them in case they are bitter! After cooking them i washed the pot and the bottom was purple, pink and gray! I used the barkeepers and that did not work i was out done.I took the manual out and read it and found that it stated not to use lemon dishwasing detergent but nothing about baking soda i don't remember where i read it if it was on the box or the cuisinart web site but it says never to use baking soda in these pots.I have never owned stainless steel cookware before and figure that perhaps this review will help new users!Other than my own stupidity I give these pots 5 stars.
My research shows....

I'm not a professional chef but I cook extravagant meals nearly every night. I've been cooking for about 12 years and was a bit hesitant at first to buy a set of pans that weren't non-stick. However, I did want to get away from teflon pans. As soon as I did I noticed a distinct difference in taste/quality. As EVERYONE says you don't need a lot of heat. I use an older natural gas stove and it was difficult for me to get it down low enough. Cuisinart suggests a flame/heat diffuser for those situations. After cooking for a while I did notice that using a pan on HIGH heat does cause a slight bit of discoloration on the bottom. I do however believe it will come out quite easily. As long as I have a small amount of oil in the pan I have had absolutely no issues with food sticking or burning and it's easier to use than any of my non-stick stuff and requires less heat/gas. Goes great with a nice set of Chicago Cutlery knives (awesome for the price)

Other sets considered: Analon, Calphalon(strongly considered), Emerilware, All-Clad, Circulon
Great choice

I finally moved in a home that have a gorgeous kitchen with granite countertops. I wanted to spend more money on stainless steel cookware set. I searched the web like crazy to find that perfect set. So I decided to purchase this Cuisinart Chef's Classic. Oh what a great choice I made. They cook even and fast. The shine is beautiful and I recommend you use Bar Keeper Friend cleanser that I bought at Family Dollar for a buck fifty. They also look good hanging from the pot rack. I recommend this set to family and friends, also a perfect Mother's Day gift.
the best pots and pans I have ever owned!!

Within the last year I purchased one pot and one sauce pan from two different local discount stores. I had researched Cuisinart and these were less then half price that were advertised online. I wanted to try them out before getting a whole set.
After a few months of use, I found them to be the best pans I had ever owned. I didn't have any paperwork that came with the two pans so it was trial and error. I soon found that medium heat was the best temperature to cook with, any higher heat... except when boiling water... could burn the food. Clean up was a snap. When I took the food out of the pan, I squirted liquid dishwashing liquid and hot tap water in it and let it sit. When the pan cooled it washed up with ease.
I was so very pleased with what I had, before Christmas I ordered the 14 piece set.
I had a complete set of Calphalon and hated using it. Cooking wasn't bad but clean up was awful!! I even used their expensive recommended cleaner. With a lot of elbow grease and their cleaner, the pots many times didn't come clean and needed a second round of the same:(:( I was ready to give these up. When my new Cuisinart set arrived, I sent my old set to a half way house.
I cook a lot and have really enjoyed this set. A few things I learned... except for boiling water cook on medium heat or food may burn. It will take a few extra minutes but the results are worth it. If food is stuck on after cooking, squirt liquid dishwashing soap into the pan after getting the food out and then hot tap water and let the pan sit. After dinner it will wash up great.
The reviews on this site gave my the tip of using Bar Keepers Friend and it is the best for cleaning up accidental burning or stuck on food!! I love to fry fish and this cleans up the pan in a snap. My kids have burnt food cooking on high and Bar Keepers Friend does the trick with clean up. After cooking eggs I soak the pan with detergent and hot water and the eggs wash right out. No problem with cleaning at all.
The company's ought to get together and put a bottle of Bar Keepers Friend in the Cuisinart cookware set as a bonus.
If there were more stars to give this product I would rate it 150% plus.
My bonus gift, Cuisinart Quick Prep Hand Blender, arrived yesterday as promised... no glitches.
So, great price, great product and bonus rebate gift a plus. I highly recommend this product to anyone... especially those who want a reasonably priced set of cookware that cooks great and cleans up just as easily.
Best Stainless Steel set for the price

I've been using this set for about 4 months. For two months I looked at different stainless steel cook sets (Costco brand, the Cuisinart MultiClad 12 pc and others) in the $200 range, and settled on the Chef's Classic at $160.

The value for the money is excellent. The set is pretty, sturdy and well constructed. The handles stay cool and the pans heat up evenly. As my mother would say: "every pot has a lid". The steamer is ingeniously designed to fit every pot.

Yes, the stainless steel pan and pot bottoms do discolor (doesn't everything?). But that's not a big concern for me, as I use my set every day, and am more concerned about how they perform.

I'm expecting this set to outlive the much cheaper, 20 year old set it replaced.

I also got a 5.5 qt Multipurpose pot with Glass cover and a Santoku knife as a bonus mail-in gift which sweetened the deal.
exellent cookware

I researched for a cookware set a lot. I wanted to get the most for my money since I was on a budget. I came across this set after reading a lot of reviews that for the most part were very helpful. I decided to buy this set based upon what I have read about them. I have had this set for a month now.If you are looking to buy an expensive set don't even bother. This set is great. I cook every night with this set and haven't found anything to complain about. They cook very evenly, durable, clean up is very easy and they look great. I have had no problems with this set at all and if you are familiar with cooking with stainless steel I believe you will enjoy this set as much as I do and for the money you can't go wrong. Amazon was good as always.
very good cookware

I am really happy with my pans. As for being non stick I have cooked everything, including eggs and haven't had any problems. The sides of the skillets sometimes gets things on them but any of the magic erasers takes it right off. I like the erasers better then bar keepers friends. Watch on Amazon the price really goes up and down quickly. If you are looking to buy them watch the site for a couple of weeks, it could save you a bunch.
So in love with these pans!

If you are like me, with older hands, get these pans. I've cooked on cast iron all my life, now my old pans are out in the garage, for use on the grill. The other day, I cooked breakfast sausage in the ten inch skillet. I put the slices in cold, warmed them up on low, and then turned up the heat. They browned beautifully, and turned easily. The pan rinsed out with some hot water. If that had been my best cast iron skillet - the patties would have cooked just fine, but the clean up would have been a whole differant story!

I use Barkeepers Friend ( how do they make that miracle stuff, and where has it been all my life?) and my pans shine like new every time. I've had this set for about six months now, and I just keep getting more and more relaxed with it. I've cooked fried chicken, tons of cabbage soup, mushrooms and onions, spagetti sauce, fried bratwurst, etc... Everything turns out so good, and then I just polish my beautiful pans till they shine!

Thank you, Amazon, for the service you provide. Thank you, reviewers, for helping me decide which pans were right for me.
Great Buy for the price.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 14-Piece Cookware Set
This cookware is beautiful. I waited till I had cooked several different things to write a review. I just cooked an omelet in the small frying pan using cooking spray. The omelet browned nicely and even the shredded cheese did not stick. Just a quick wash will do nicely. I have used the diswasher, they cleaned up perfectly. I had a little sticking in the steamer insert and had to soak a little. The inserts are not as smooth inside as the cookware. If you want this cookware to have no spots or discolorations after cooking, use a gentle stainless cleaner like cameo or barkeepers friend. I find this true with all stainless cookware but only necessary if you want it to look its best inside and out. The weight is perfect. Heavy enough to be quality, but not too heavy to be cumbersome. The pasta insert is a bit disappointing, in that it does require way too much water since the insert is smaller than the pot, hence it takes longer to boil the water. Metal utensils do cause light scratching on the inside, but that is to be expected as well. Overall I am very pleased with this cookware. For the price, it is a good buy.
Beautiful, Durable Cookware!

After much deliberation, I decided to buy this 14-piece set. Really, some of the reviews were scary. I went to our local Bed Bath and Beyond just to hold the cookware and check it out. I fell in love with it.
I have had the pans a few months now and they look like the day I pulled them out of the box (thanks to Bar Keepers Friend). They heat well and evenly and look wonderful. We are building a rack to hang them up in the kitchen so they aren't clanging and banging around in the cupboard. I highly recommend this set!
Owned for over 2 years. Very happy!!

I've owned this set for over two years. We have not babied this cookware; it's used a lot. The pots, pans and lids are always washed in the dishwasher and turn out sparkling clean. They've also had burnt foods and drips down the side and bottom which comes right off with a little, and I do mean a little, elbow grease and bar tenders friend. The inside of the pans is scratched from the metal utensils I've used but do you really want the inside of your pot or pan to be pristine? The outsides and bottoms of the pans ARE pristine. My daughter is currently completing a wedding registry and I am HIGHLY recommending this set to her. Could I give a better recommendation?
no issues ........ as of yet

We have had a RevereWare set for about 10 years and it was falling apart. I searched and found the Cuisinart 14 piece Chef's Choice set fit our needs. My wife wanted an all stainless set, but was hesitant with all the talk about difficult clean-up and burning of food. That couldn't be further from the truth with this set. We have used it every day for about a month now and have not come across any issues with clean-up or buring of food. I use a gas range and have no problem with heat control or having to use "half" the heat setting like other reviews suggest. We do plan ahead when moving from a boil to a simmer, as it takes time for the pan to cool down. Every pot I have ever used gets water spots from boiling with hard water and this is not a sore spot with me. The ONLY concern I have is that the set is made in CHINA and was not aware of this at the time of purchase. I am requesting that Cuisinart send me a written warranty that covers MATERIALS and NOT just workmanship. It has been quite evident from recent news items that CHINA has had an established history using/manufacturing with toxic chemicals (melamine in baby formula and lead paint in childrens toys for example). I hope that Cuisinart is assuring that the stainless being used is actually stainless and not a toxic brew with other heavy metals. I would reccomend this set to those who would like a good stainless set at a good price.
Great value on excellent design

At $140 for a 14 piece set, this cookware is an excellent bargain. I've been using them constantly since I got them, and everything has come out better than ever, from grilled cheese to soups to ropa vieja. They heat quickly and evenly, look great and with a little soaking, clean easily as well. Great bargain on an excellent product!
